Salmon complete landmark commerce programme for Premier Farnell
46 B2B ecommerce sites rolled out worldwide, in 50 language variants and 20+ currencies
Salmon, the eCommerce digital agency, is pleased to announce it has supported Premier Farnell, the world-leading distributor of electronic components and equipment, to complete the delivery of a new global B2B web platform serving Europe, the Americas and Asia Pacific.
Salmon engaged with Premier Farnell to replace its aging ATG platform with IBM WebSphere Commerce. The core objective was to provide a flexible and scalable solution that would cater for the needs of its global business with a single platform that could handle 70% of its £1B business. The project launched in Northern America in November 2013 with new sites serving the US, Canada and Mexico.
Salmon has now completed the roll out of the solution across 46 sites, while maintaining a focus on the needs of existing customers and maintaining business as usual activities. The final stage of this mammoth project saw new sites for the UK, Ireland, France, India and Israel. The new web platform is now live across the world in over 50 language variants and over 20 currencies.
Salmon also provided a number of services during the programme to enhance the customers experience and make it easier for Premier Farnell staff to manage promotional activity throughout the world. These included design, customer experience, analysis, and architecture and integration services. Additionally Salmon created a custom-built Content Management System and migrated legacy data to ensure a seamless transition for customers, whilst improving merchandising.
