Online retail sales decline over Christmas as peak trading shifts to Black Friday - with more traffic, more orders and more conversion occurring over Black Friday week. Here’s what we’ve seen in our Peak Trading Operations Centre:

  • Gradual decline of Christmas sales, as Black Friday now becomes peak trading time for retailers
  • Black Friday 2016 saw 28% more online orders taken during Black Friday period (22nd – 28th November) than Christmas period (21st – 27th December)
  • Sales conversion up 50% on Black Friday compared to Boxing Day in 2016
  • Mobile continues to set the pace, with majority of online orders made by mobile on Black Friday (51%) and Christmas (60%)
