Salmon help to make Christmas a cracker for Habitat

Global eCommerce consultancy Salmon, a Wunderman Commerce Company, has delivered Habitat’s first click and collect service. Customers can now pick up small homeware products, ordered online, the next day, from more than 2,300 locations. Pick up points include more than 2,000 Sainsbury’s branches and DPD sites across the UK, as well as Habitat’s own stores in London, Leeds and Edinburgh.

Salmon delivered a major upgrade to habitat.co.uk 18 months ago, moving them to a new responsive website built on Magento Enterprise Edition. This supported Habitat’s strategy to improve its multichannel service, which is especially important since more than 60% of its sales start online. The click and collect functionality has been delivered as part of Salmon’s ongoing roadmap with Habitat to help them continually evolve to meet consumers' demands and ensure they deliver a digital proposition that offers customers' convenience.

Habitat [IRDX RHAB] Managing Director Clare Askem explained: “The way our customers want to shop with us is changing and we’ve worked hard at evolving our digital offer at pace to meet this demand. Over 60% of our sales are now generated online, so giving customers the choice of fast delivery to a collection point close to where they live or work at a time that’s convenient makes sound business sense. Our customers increasingly want speed, flexibility and choice and our aim is to develop the Habitat brand into a multichannel business for the digital age, more accessible to an increasingly online customer base and to provide a flexible delivery proposition that works around modern life.”

Salmon integrated the following features with the Magento eCommerce platform to enable the click and collect service:

  • New shipping method extension which connects to 3rd Party (DPD) store list, enabling users to select over 1000 collection points.
  • Integrated the store locator extension with Google Maps, enabling users to select their preferred pickup location.
  • Enhanced the checkout to give users an option to either select Deliver or Click and Collect via a new User Interface.

Neil Stewart, CEO at Salmon, said: “Delivering this type of solution makes a lot of sense with the benefits it offers both to the consumer and the business. It’s this combination that will see brands succeed as they transform the customer experience and spur new growth from the intersection of web and store. Habitat clearly realises the importance of providing customer convenience and a seamless experience across channels, and we look forward to working with them on some exciting initiatives that will develop this further in the coming months.”

Notes to editors:
