A poem devoted to Peak Operations teams tackling Black Friday

A poem devoted to Peak Operations teams tackling Black Friday
If you can keep your head when all about you,
Are losing theirs when Black Friday is due,
If you can trust your site when shoppers doubt you
But make allowances for their doubting too;
If they can wait, and not get tired of page reloads,
Or you can bestow half-price promises,
Or hated for out-of-stocks - don't yield to hating,
Well really, this seems too good to be true:

If customers can dream - make it reality;
If they will browse - make the checkout your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Desigual,
And treat those two labels just the same;
If you can bear to hear the bargains you've offered
Twisted by tweets to make a joke for trolls,
Or watch the website you constructed, buffer,
But revise and build it up with optimised tools:

If you can make a heap of all your profits
And risk it on one web-crazed week of sales,
Or lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never post a word about the cost;
If you can drive your staff and team with strength
To serve your site long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with press and keep your calm,
Or boast success - nor lose the common touch,
If neither rival nor shopper can hurt you,
If all men shop with you, it's never too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving weekday
With Cyber Monday's worth of shoppers' fun,
Yours is the Web, and everything that's in it,
And -which is more- you'll be top Brand, my son!
