17 June 2010

Salmon, specialists in delivering eCommerce solutions today announced that Boots, the UK’s leading retailer of beauty and health products, as well as health information have won two prestigious accolades at the 2010 BT Retail Week Technology Awards. Boots won “BT Technology Solution of the Year" award (making them the overall winner of the show) and “Multichannel Integration Project of the Year”.  The awards acknowledge and reward the achievements and success of retail technology in the UK.

Neil Stewart, Commercial Director at Salmon said, “We have been helping Boots implement their multichannel strategy since 2008 and they are deserving winners of this award, it shows their appetite for technology and innovation and determination to deliver the very best service to customers.  They have used technology to integrate their channels, maximized the opportunity to develop multichannel customers and continue to provide a consistent shopping experience.”

Most recently and in addition to delivering “buy online & collect in store”, “live pharmacist” and “ask Boots” advice portal, Salmon have helped Boots to develop a number of customer facing enhancements, which have contributed to their success at the awards.

  • A multichannel shopping experience where alternative suppliers can sell their products through Boots to the public and combine the order with standard Boots products.
  • A new online prescription service where customers can order one off prescriptions after visiting the doctor for collection in store or home delivery.  A repeat prescription service where Boots can contact the customers’ doctor on their behalf and then deliver the medicine and the associated notification. The customer is then updated by text and email when their prescription is about to expire.
  • Improved methods of navigation and search, along with an enhanced look and feel to the site and improved usability across the site.
  • Improved search engine optimization, resulting in Boots becoming almost top of Google search in many cases, providing increased customer throughput and sales conversions.

Stewart went on to say “This is a major achievement for Salmon and Boots.  The genuine recognition of our hard work gives us all a tremendous feeling of pride and professional satisfaction and of course demonstrates our capabilities of delivering integrated multichannel retail solutions for some of the largest retailers in the UK.”
