The following features improve navigation for text only browsers, screen reader users, and users of keyboard navigation.
This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. However if your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, or if you prefer to view just text, the use of structured semantic markup ensures that the content of each page is still readable and clearly structured.
All images used in this site include a descriptive alt attributes. Where we have used a graphic purely as a decorative element we have deliberately included empty alt attributes.
Users may change the font size of each web page to their preference through their browser.
* In Internet Explorer, select View, then Text Size, and then your preferred size.* In Firefox press CTRL + to increase font size and CTRL - to decrease. CTRL 0 will reset sizes to default.
Labels are used to access form fields, making forms generally easier to use. All forms follow a logical tab sequence.
Tables are used from time to time to display tabular data, and are correctly structured to allow screen readers to render them properly. Tables are not used for layout on this site.
We have been mindful of the site's font and background colour combinations and checked these colours against different colour blindness conditions to ensure that all information is still clear.
Linking text has been written to make sense out of context. Where appropriate, links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail
A search facility is available throughout the site to help you find information you are interested in. The access key ALT+4 will take you straight to the search field.
This website is built to XHTML 1.0 and CSS 1.0 / 2.0 standards, as governed by the W3 Organisation – www.w3.org.
Consequently the website will function and look as intended in A Grade browsers that support these standards.
